FAQs

How do I get to Boomtown from London?

Take South Western Railway from London Waterloo to Winchester — about an hour. From Winchester station there are dedicated shuttle buses directly to the Matterley Estate site. The shuttles run frequently on arrival days and cost around £10–15 return. Book in advance as they fill up fast.

Can I drive and park on site?

Yes — car parking passes are available separately and must be purchased in advance. You cannot buy parking on the gate. Campervan pitches are a separate ticket entirely. If you're driving, follow the official road signs from the M3 Junction 9 (Winchester). Expect queues on Wednesday and Thursday arrival days.

Is the ticket in my name? Can I transfer it?

Yes — Boomtown tickets are name-registered and ID-checked on entry. If you buy a resale ticket, the seller must transfer the ticket into your name via the official Boomtown ticketing system before the festival. Don't accept a ticket that hasn't been transferred — you won't get in.

What is Boomtown actually like?

Boomtown is a fully immersive fictional city with over 20 named districts — from the neon streets of Chinatown to the punk chaos of Old Town, the jungle basslines of Sector 6, and the acoustic bliss of Whistlers Green. It's as much theatre as it is festival. There's a storyline that unfolds across the week, with actors, sets, and surprises. First-timers are always blown away.

What should I pack?

Matterley Estate is a chalk downland bowl — it drains well but gets dusty in dry weather and muddy in rain. Pack layers, decent wellies or walking boots, and a good waterproof. The site is huge so comfortable shoes matter. Bring cash for some traders. Phone signal can be patchy inside the site — download the official Boomtown app and the site map before you arrive.

When do gates open?

Campsite gates open Wednesday 12th August from around 8am. Pre-Wednesday entry wristbands allow access from Tuesday evening for early setup. The main arena opens Wednesday afternoon. Always check the official Boomtown website for exact gate times closer to the event.
