FAQs
How do I get to Regent's Park Open Air Theatre?
The closest tubes are Baker Street (Jubilee, Metropolitan, Circle & Hammersmith & City lines) and Regent's Park (Bakerloo line). It's about a 10–15 minute walk through the park from either. Taxis and Ubers can drop you at the Inner Circle gate on Chester Road. There's no on-site parking — public transport is strongly recommended.
What happens if it rains?
The show goes on! Regent's Park Open Air Theatre has a canopy cover over most seating areas, so light rain won't stop the performance. In the event of a full cancellation due to extreme weather, the theatre will contact ticket holders directly. Bring a light layer — evenings can get cool even in summer.
Is there a dress code?
No formal dress code — smart casual is perfectly appropriate. Many people dress up for an evening out, especially for premium seats. Given it's an open-air venue, comfortable layers and flat shoes are wise, particularly if walking through the park.
What are the best pubs or restaurants nearby before the show?
The theatre has its own Garden Bar and restaurant on site, which is lovely for a pre-show supper. Nearby, The York & Albany (a Gordon Ramsay gastropub on Parkway) is excellent. The Engineer in Primrose Hill is a short walk and very popular. For something casual, Camden Market is 15 minutes away and has dozens of street food options.
What time do doors open?
The Garden Bar and on-site restaurant typically open around 90 minutes before curtain-up. Evening performances usually start at 7:30pm, so the venue opens from around 6:00pm. Check your ticket confirmation for exact timings — matinee performances vary.
Are children welcome?
CATS is recommended for ages 6 and up. Children under 3 are not admitted. The production contains theatrical lighting, loud sound effects, and is performed in an open-air environment, so it's worth considering for younger children. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.
