FAQs
How do I get to Slessor Gardens?
Dead easy — Dundee train station is about a 10-minute walk along the waterfront. Trains from Edinburgh take around 1hr 20mins and Glasgow around 1hr 30mins on ScotRail. If you're driving, the Dundee Waterfront car parks on West Victoria Dock Road are closest, but they fill up fast on Saturday — train is honestly your best bet.
Are there good pubs nearby before the show?
Loads of options! The Speedwell Bar (aka Mennies) on Perth Road is a Dundee institution. Braes on the Waterfront is great for pre-show drinks with a view. Drouthy Neebors in the West End is brilliant if you want a proper local atmosphere. Most are within a 15–20 minute walk of Slessor Gardens.
What's the site like at Slessor Gardens?
It's a fantastic open-air venue right on the Tay waterfront — you genuinely can't beat the backdrop. The site is flat and open which means great views from pretty much anywhere. There are food stalls, bars, and it's fully accessible. Dress for a Scottish summer evening — layers are your friend!
Is there a dress code?
No dress code — it's a music festival! Smart casual to festival casual is the norm. Worth bringing a waterproof layer or light jacket for evenings by the river even in July. Comfortable shoes are a must.
Can I buy a day ticket or only a full weekend pass?
Discovery Festival typically sells individual day tickets as well as weekend passes. Day tickets are usually around £45. Weekend passes offer better value if you're going all three days. Check the official site for the latest on availability — and if they're sold out, that's where Turnstile comes in!
What time do gates open?
Gates typically open around 5pm on Friday and Saturday, with the site closing after the headline act finishes around 11pm. Sunday may have slightly earlier timings. Always worth checking the official Discovery Festival socials for confirmed set times closer to the event.
