How do I get to Cropredy from London?
Train from London Marylebone to Banbury takes about an hour on Chiltern Railways. From Banbury, taxis and shuttle buses run to the festival site — it's about 5 miles north. Driving: M40 to junction 11, then follow the B4525. Parking on-site is available but sells out — book it in advance.
Is there camping?
Yes! Camping and campervan pitches are available adjacent to the festival field and need to be booked separately when you buy your ticket. The campsite opens from Wednesday evening. It's very relaxed — bring a gazebo and expect to make friends over a brew.
What's the vibe — is it family-friendly?
Absolutely. Cropredy is one of the most laid-back festivals in the UK. It's a standing field (no seated areas except the disabled platform), very community-feel, very folk-rock. Lots of families, lots of old hands, and a brilliant mix of ages. Dogs are welcome on leads on certain days — check the official site.
Are there good pubs nearby?
The Red Lion in Cropredy village is the legendary festival local — it gets absolutely rammed but the atmosphere is incredible. The Brasenose Arms in Cropredy is also worth a visit. Banbury itself has plenty of options if you're staying there.
What should I bring?
Layers — August in Oxfordshire can be glorious or grey. Wellies if rain is forecast, trainers if dry. A good camping chair if you want to perch at the back. Cash is handy for the bar and traders, though many now take card. And something warm for the Saturday night finale — it always goes late.
