FAQs

How do I get to The Piece Hall?

Halifax train station is a 5-minute walk from the venue — brilliant for this one. Northern Rail runs frequent services from Leeds (15 mins) and Bradford (10 mins). From London, take the TransPennine Express to Leeds then change. Driving: there are several car parks nearby including Eureka Car Park and Square Road — book ahead as they fill up fast on show nights.

What's the venue like?

The Piece Hall is a stunning Grade I-listed Georgian cloth hall built in 1779 — one of the most unique concert venues in the UK. The open-air courtyard holds around 5,000 people and has incredible natural acoustics. PSB's visuals and archival projections are going to look absolutely jaw-dropping against those stone colonnades.

Are there good pubs or places to eat nearby?

Loads of options right in Halifax town centre. The Grayston Unity is a favourite for pre-show drinks — indie pub with great atmosphere. Shears Yard in the Piece Hall itself is solid for food. The Borough Market is a short walk and has street food and bars. Get there early and soak it all in.

What time do doors open and what time does the show finish?

Doors typically open around 6pm for Piece Hall shows, with support acts from around 7pm and the headline act hitting the stage around 8:30–9pm. Shows usually finish by 11pm in line with the venue's licence. Check your ticket for exact times as these can vary.

Is there a dress code or age restriction?

No dress code — it's an outdoor summer concert, so layers are wise as it can cool down after dark in Yorkshire. The show is typically 14+ with under-16s accompanied by an adult. Check your ticket for the specific age policy.

What are Public Service Broadcasting like live?

Absolutely brilliant — one of the best live acts in the UK right now. They blend post-rock, electronica and Krautrock with original archival footage and broadcasts projected live. Think Sigur Rós meets a Cold War documentary. The Piece Hall setting with all that stonework is going to make the visuals even more special. Do not miss this.
