FAQs
How do I get to the National Theatre?
The easiest route is Waterloo station — it's about a 5-minute walk along the South Bank. You can also cross Hungerford Bridge from Embankment tube. The NT is right on the river between the Tate Modern and the BFI — hard to miss!
Where is the Dorfman Theatre within the National?
The Dorfman is the NT's intimate studio space on the ground floor. It's a flexible theatre — seating changes per production — so check your ticket for the exact configuration. Arrive a few minutes early to find your bearings.
What's the best place for a pre-show drink or bite?
The NT's own riverside café-bar is genuinely great and buzzy before shows. Wahaca and Skylon are a short walk away. The Anchor & Hope on The Cut in Waterloo is a beloved local gastropub if you want something more tucked away.
Is there parking nearby?
Parking on the South Bank is expensive and limited — we'd really recommend the train or tube. If you must drive, the NCP at Upper Ground or Waterloo station are closest, but factor in time and cost. Cycling via the Embankment is honestly a lovely option.
What is Pride the play about?
Alexi Kaye Campbell's Pride follows two couples — one in 1958, one in 1997 — exploring love, identity, shame and liberation across two defining moments in British queer history. It's funny, heartbreaking, and utterly vital.
Are the National Theatre's tickets transferable?
Standard and Premium tickets can generally be exchanged or transferred. However, discounted, access, and some promotional tickets are non-transferable — check your booking confirmation. When in doubt, message us and we'll help you figure it out.
