FAQs
How do I get to Lowther Deer Park?
The nearest train station is Penrith on the Avanti West Coast main line — about 2h 45m from London Euston. Wilderness runs official shuttle buses from Penrith station to the site; book in advance on the festival website. If driving, follow the A6 south of Penrith toward Lowther. Carpooling is very much the Wilderness way.
What's the difference between General, Boutique and VIP camping?
General camping is your classic festival field — bring your own tent and make friends with your neighbours. Boutique camping means pre-pitched bell tents or safari tents with proper beds, power, and a quieter area. VIP and Hospitality packages include dedicated entrances, premium bars, banquet access, and sometimes curated food experiences with guest chefs. Worth every penny if you like your sleep.
Is there a dress code?
No strict dress code, but Wilderness has a distinct aesthetic — think elegant bohemian, countryside festival chic. People genuinely dress up for the evening banquets and late-night theatre events. Wellies and a silk dress is entirely normal. Leave the neon face paint for other festivals.
What else is there beyond the music?
Wilderness is much more than a music festival. Expect woodland talks and debates, immersive theatre productions, wild swimming in the River Lowther, morning yoga, a celebrated food programme with top UK chefs, communal banquet dinners, craft workshops, and a genuinely beautiful lake. The music is almost a bonus.
How do wristband transfers work?
Wilderness wristbands are registered to a name. When you buy a ticket via this exchange, you'll need to transfer the registration into your own name through the official Wilderness ticketing portal before arrival. The seller initiates the transfer — we'll guide both sides through the process so it's smooth.
What are the best pubs and places to stay nearby?
Penrith has a good selection of pubs and restaurants for pre-festival night. The George Hotel and Penrith Farmers' & Kidd's pub are reliable stops. For something special, Askham Hall (a 15-minute drive) is a Michelin-starred country house that feels very Wilderness in spirit. The village of Pooley Bridge on Ullswater is also lovely for an arrival-day lunch.
